Welcome Reception
All participants are invited to attend the welcome reception on Monday, May 13th from 6 PM to 9 PM in the Queen’s University Biosciences Atrium (116 Barrie St, Kingston, ON K7L 3N6). Drinks and light snacks will be provided.
Breakfast
Breakfast will not be provided by CICS. Breakfast can be reserved at the dining hall for the mornings of May 14, 15, and 16 at a cost of $14.50 per meal. Breakfast must be reserved in advance at the time of registration, and will be only available for early bird registrants.
Coffee Breaks
Coffee and light snacks will be provided during breaks in the morning and afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday May 14, and 15, and in the morning on Thursday May 16.
Lunch
CICS is tentatively planning to provide a boxed lunch for all participants on Tuesday May 14 but will not be providing lunch on Wednesday May 15 or Thursday May 16. Participants are encouraged to explore downtown Kingston for lunch. Many options exist on Princess Street, about a 15 minute walk from the conference venue (student-oriented options are around ‘The Hub’ while some nicer restaurants are further down Princess. Closer options also exist, including the Grad Club and Old Farm Fine Foods.
Boat excursion
All participants are invited to attend a boat excursion on the beautiful St. Lawrence River on Tuesday May 14. Boarding will begin at 5:30 PM, with the boat leaving promptly at 6 PM and returning at 8 PM. Drinks and light snacks will be served. The boat dock is located at Crawford Wharf at 1 Brock St. It is an approximately 20 minute walk from the conference venue. We note that participants may not have time to return to the residences prior to the boat cruise, particularly because the residence is in the opposite direction from the wharf. The boat departs and returns from the heart of Kingston downtown, where plenty of dinner options exist for those still hungry after the boat cruise.
Banquet
All participants are invited to attend the banquet at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts (390 King St W, Kingston, ON K7L 2X4) on Wednesday May 15. Drinks will be served starting at 6 PM, with buffet-style dinner starting at 7 PM. The Isabel Bader Centre is a 25 minute walk from the conference venue, and a 15 minute walk from the residence. Cabs and Ubers are also available.
