Proceedings of Combustion Institute Vol. 31 indexed on Web of Science

Feb 2008: From the Combustion Institute

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of President Brian Haynes, I am writing to share with you the happy news that Vol. 31 of the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute is now indexed on the Web of Science. It has been quite an arduous journey leading to the present outcome. Along the way we have received encouragement and support from many members and friends. In particular, we thank those who have sent in testimonial letters on the importance of indexing of the PCI. We would also like to specially recognize Dimitrios Kyritsis of Urbana-Champaign, Eric Petersen of the University of Central Florida, and Heinz Pitsch of Stanford for joining the Institute as plaintiffs in our legal action. We also thank our attorney, Mr. Bruce Cassidy of Philadelphia and Princeton, for his invaluable counsel in steering us through the legal process.

Our next goal is to ensure that subsequent volumes of PCI will be continuously indexed. Do not hesitate to contact me (cklaw@princeton.edu) or President Haynes (haynes@chem.eng.usyd.edu.au) if you have any suggestion regarding this matter.

With best wishes,
Chung K. Law

Combustion Photos Wanted

Letter from the Chair

It is the 30th anniversary of the International Combustion Institute this year. At the International Symposium, each national section of the organization has been asked to hang a banner celebrating their contributions to Combustion Research. One section of the Canadian Section banner is going to consist of a collage of photos from Combustion Research Labs across Canada.

So we need your pictures to celebrate Canadian Combustion Research!

Please send them in digital form (or a hardcopy if that is all you have) to Professor Janusz Kozinski at McGill, janusz.kozinski@mcgill.ca cc.'ing them to me ejweckman@uwaterloo.ca .

Thanks very much for your help!

Sincerely
Beth Weckman
Chair, Canadian Section
